Read the numbers in context

These are estimates from surveys collected during 2020–2024, not a live count or a 2026 snapshot. The Census groups addresses into ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs). They approximate postal ZIP areas and may cross city, county, and neighborhood boundaries.

Income uses 2024 inflation-adjusted dollars. Home values describe owner-occupied homes, not current listing prices. Gross rent includes contract rent and tenant-paid utilities for occupied rentals paying cash rent. Vacant homes include seasonal homes and other vacancies, not just properties available to rent or buy.

Age and race use all residents; education uses adults 25 and older; income and household types use households. Hispanic origin is separate from race, so those two charts should not be added together. The U.S. benchmark includes the 50 states and D.C.; it excludes Puerto Rico.

Margins of error use 90% confidence. Small areas and small groups can have substantial uncertainty. Combined categories use Census approximation formulas. Percentages may not total exactly 100% because of rounding. “Not available” means the Census withheld, bounded, or could not calculate an exact value. It never means zero.

Sources & calculation details

Downloaded 2026-09-08. All 12 source tables use the same 2020–2024 five-year release. The downloadable CSV includes Census field references and source checksums.

Counts add only mutually exclusive rows. Combined count margins use the square root of the sum of squared margins. Share margins use the Census subset formula, with the ratio formula when the result under the square root would be negative. These approximations do not replace Census variance replicate calculations.
